We had the good fortune recently to spend time with one of the most respected Ayurvedic physicians of India and we shared some of our Spring Sunrise Pure Ghee with him. He complimented us on our product and emphasized the value of ghee in maintaining and promoting health. He encouraged us to also offer an herbalized form of ghee infused with Krishna Tulsi (Indian Holy Basil) to further enhance its healing properties.

Spring Sunrise Tulsi Ghee contains organic Krishna Tulsi, (ocimum sanctum) grown and harvested in India according to the ancient precepts that honor the spiritual intelligence within the herb. The ghee is made from Iowa organic butter, mainly produced on Amish farms. Spring Sunrise Tulsi Ghee is prepared and bottled in the holy atmosphere of Vedic primordial sounds.

We use Spring Sunrise Tulsi Ghee in the same way we use regular ghee—in cooking, as a salve, as a fuel for candles. We find that it enlivens positive energy, clarity of mind, and joy, and is a powerful health tonic.

Worshiped for millions of years as the “elixir of life,” Tulsi is considered the “queen of herbs” by the religious and natural health traditions of ancient India. It is said that “nothing can equal its goodness. It only gives good and takes away the bad.”

Consumption of Tulsi in any form is said to increase immunity. It is believed that ghee infused with Tulsi enhances the overall body system. It is held that that this aromatic plant absorbs negative energy and releases positive energy turning one’s house of four walls into a pious home.
Tulsi is an important herb in Ayurvedic treatments. It is used in the treatment of common colds, mouth ulcers, headaches, stomach disorders and inflammation, and acute and chronic ailments like diabetes, heart problems, various forms of poisoning and malaria. It is also used extensively for cosmetic purpose. Essential oil extracted Tulsi is considered a tonic for skin. Ayurvedic practitioners advise regular massage with Tulsi oil to heal left over marks of pimples and restore skin color.

The ancient scriptural texts of the Vedic tradition, the Shrimat Bhagavatam and Mahabharata describe how Tulsi, a goddess and devotee of Lord Vishnu, was ultimately reincarnated as the plant Tulsi. It is said that in order to express her devotion to her beloved Lord, she took this form as an herb which would be offered in worship and service to Him.

According to OrganicInda.com, "Modern scientific research offers impressive evidence that Tulsi reduces stress, enhances stamina, relieves inflammation, lowers cholesterol, eliminates toxins, protects against radiation, prevents gastric ulcers, lowers fevers, improves digestion and provides a rich supply of antioxidants and other nutrients. Tulsi is especially effective in supporting the heart, blood vessels, liver and lungs and also regulates blood pressure and blood sugar."
